Marlowe's Dr. Faustus

Dr Faustus:
The lines of poetry here are full of passion and reflect the psychology of Faustus which was filled with desperation. He does not want to give his soul to the devil so he addresses Helen of Troy to save him saying: Sweet Helen let me attain immortality by kissing you. The impact of the kiss on him is explicitly revealed. The sweetness of Helen's lips makes him so ecstatic that he feels his soul has left his body and he asks Helen to give his soul back. The lines not only remind us of the gallant duels that were fought in the course of the Trojan Wars but also calls up visions of the gods of the ancient mythology, such as Jupiter and Apollo.
